Performance Notes'...The number of presentations grows every year. That, and the difficulty of the war of providing robes for everybody, are the resons why it has become impossible to continue the procedure of former years when every graduate was hooded by the Chancellor or one of his representatives.
Among the young people presented were a bluejacket and several men and girls in khaki. Their uniforms amid all the academic robes added point to the words of the Chancellor Lord Athlone, at the beginning of his charge:- "You who are graduating today have had to contend with difficulties beyond those which normally confront the student. Some of you have had your university career interrupted by war service of various kinds. Some of you became undergraduates while war was still being waged. All of you have completed your courses of study in an unsettling period of national crisis. These further handicaps which you have overcome make your success all the more praiseworthy".
