Sir Neil Cossons OBE FSA FMA, former Pro-Provost and Chairman of Council of the Royal College of Art from 2007-2015 was appointed Senior Fellow.
Honorary Doctorates were awarded to Sir Ridley Scott and Luc Tuymens.
Honorary Fellowships were awarded to Simon Foxton, stylist and Visiting Professor; Sarah Griffin, curator; Peter Longfellow, former Metalwork technician; Colum Lowe, former Head of Design for the National Patient Safety Agency, Sarah Miller, former Council member; Rohan Silva, former Senior Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister on Technology; and Aitor Throup, Creative Director of G-Star and RCA alumnus.
The final trumpet fanfare featured a natural trumpet designed by Silversmithing and Jewellery student, Charles Hall, and presented by Boosey and Hawkes Ltd, on the occassion of the College receiving its Royal Charter in 1967. The trumpet was played at the ceremony of the installation of the College's first Provost.
In his Address, the RCA Rector made mention of the 12 noon one minute silence for victims of the recent attack in Tunisia. The one minute silence in the auditorium was then announced by the Academic Registrar the just before 12 noon. |
