Performance Notes | David Gilmour CBE is an English musician, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known for his work as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is estimated that by 2012 the group had sold over 250 million records worldwide. In addition to his work with Pink Floyd, Gilmour has produced for a variety of artists, and had his own solo career, including the No.1 album "On an Island", released in 2006. He was appointed a CBE in 2005 for his services to music, awarded the Outstanding Contribution title at the 2008 Q Awards and in 2011, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him number 14 in their list of the greatest guitarists of all time. Gilmour returns to the Royal Albert Hall following his last performances here in May 2006. |
