Performance Notes | Pete Horsfalls Basin Street Brawlers are Londons own master exponents of hot jazz, swingin their way through the most beautiful melodies and raucous rags of the 1920s and 1930s. Their debut album Its Tight Like That was the Sunday Times record of the week and won rave reviews as a tour de force (R2 Magazine).
Their repertoire features the finest work of the master songwriters of the era, including Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael and George Gershwin, delivered in a unique and powerful style reminiscent of the Louis Armstrong All Stars and the great Harlem stride piano-man Thomas Fats Waller.
The Brawlers have performed as the headline act at the London Swing Festival, in addition to countless residencies at internationally acclaimed speakeasy The Nightjar, the worlds oldest music hall Wiltons Music Hall and top cabaret clubs including The Crazy Coqs. The members of the ensemble are all regular performers at the UKs finest venues, including Ronnie Scotts and Sohos Pizza Express Jazz Club. |
