A newly formed band of friends dedicated to the gypsy jazz cause. Gypsy jazz is the merging of swing and gypsy music, all started off by Belgian Manouche gypsy Django Reinhardt round about the 1930s. We are here to create a scene and to let you hear this music through our ears. With the many influences and experiences that have shaped each member, Daj Dook are not just a tribute to Django. This is a chance to hear this music move in a modern context with our hats tipped to the tradition and the dense Roma history of this unique art form. Together and between them they have played at Buckingham Palace, Festival Django Reinhart Samois Sur Seine and London jazz venues like Ronnie Scotts and Pizza Express Jazz Club. |
