Performance Notes | Narcissus, the Thespian hunter who fell in love with his own image, inspired Matthias Pintscher to compose his own reflection on the interaction of different groups and their mirror images, a work for cello and orchestra. Pintscher conducts Reflections on Narcissus here before a semi-staged performance of Mendelssohns incidental music to A Midsummer Nights Dream. Mendelssohns delicate, mercurial and strident music is interspersed with excerpts from Shakespeares text to form a centrepiece of this seasons celebrations of Shakespeares 400th anniversary.
Proms debuts of Mark Benton, Alex Hassell, Simon Manyonda, 'Sinead Matthews, Sam Swan, Michelle Terry and Bijan Sheibani.
'Puck' mingled with the Prommers in the arena and 'Bottom' and friends took 'selfies' from the stage as part of the adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream. |
