Performance Notes | Spandau Ballet frontman and solo artist Tony Hadley returns to the Royal Albert Hall with Southbank Sinfonia Orchestra on 17 October 2016.
Since he rose to fame in 1978 as lead singer of Spandau Ballet, Tony Hadley has entertained audiences all over the world. Pioneers of the 80s Romantic movement, Spandau Ballet had numerous memorable hits including Gold, Only When You Leave, and of course True. Tony will be performing Spandau Ballet hits as well as tracks from his forthcoming 2016 solo album.
British actor and singer, Shane Richie joined Tony Hadley on stage as a surprise guest for the last song of his first set.
"The Royal Albert Hall has a special place in my heart as I met one of my musical heroes, Frank Sinatra, there in 1977. I saw him three times and on the last night I managed to wangle an introduction. He shook my hand, and I told him I was in a band and that I wanted to be a professional singer. He wishes me luck; six years later I was playing on that very stage. In 2018 [sic] I played there again and I decided to change the last song of the set to 'My Way', in homage to Sinatra. It also summed up the personal journey I have been on. It was a very emotional moment for me." ('Tony Hadley, My Life in Pictures', T Hadley, Omnibus Press, 2022 , pg 65) |
