Performance NotesWith a glittering career that has spanned over five decades, Don Black is one of the great lyricists of all times, writing over 100 songs for motion pictures such as The Italian Job, True Grit, Dances With Wolves, Out of Africa and a quintet of James Bond theme songs, including Diamonds Are Forever and Tomorrow Never Dies.

He is the recipient of an Oscar, two Tony Awards, five Ivor Novello Awards and a Golden Globe and has worked with some of the world’s leading composers: Jule Styne, Henry Mancini, Quincy Jones, Elmer Bernstein, Marvin Hamlisch and Charles Aznavour. Don was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2008 and was awarded an OBE in 1999.

This is the second in a series of three fundraising ‘in conversation’ events in the Hall’s Elgar Room celebrating the 125th anniversary of The Theatrical Guild, a charity supporting those who work backstage and front of house in theatres across the UK.
