Performance Notes | Born in Ukraine to Russian parents Anya developed her love of singing whilst performing in a school choir and a vocal group she started with a friend whilst studying classical piano. She first emerged onto the London music scene at the age of 16 when she was spotted by a talent scout singing at an open mic night in North London. Anya has since graced the stages of some of London's most iconic venues such as The Royal Festival Hall, Ronnie Scott's, Jazz Café, Dingwalls, The Troubadour, The Boogaloo amongst many others and performing alongside artists such as Plan B, The CocknBullKid, Noel McKoy and Ny amongst many others.
Anya has honed her vocal and song-writing skills by immersing herself in various music projects - from writing her own songs to singing on other people's beats - and has sealed a stellar reputation as a top-line writer and a versatile vocalist. Her soulful yet powerful voice has been compared by peers to Randy Crawford, Stevie Nicks and Alicia Keys, seamlessly blending soul, jazz and folk influences.
Performing alongside Gary Crosby OBE, her mentor and an award-winning bass player and founder of Tomorrow's Warriors young jazz musicians' programme, Anya will be delivering some original songs as well as offering a fresh take on selected jazz standards and soul classics |
