Orchestra or Band | Yazz Ahmed's Eletric Dreams Quartet |
Performance Notes | Our intimate Late Night Jazz series presents sensational music in the Royal Albert Halls Elgar Room.
British-Bahraini trumpet and flugelhorn player Yazz Ahmed has emerged as a distinctive and intelligent soloist and composer. Illustrious venues all over the world, from Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club to the Museum of Modern Art, have been graced with her seemingly effortless sound.
Following the release of her widely-praised album La Saboteuse, she now brings her innovative Electric Dreams Quartet to Late Night Jazz.
Ahmeds Electric Dreams project is an ongoing series of live performances and recording sessions in which she collaborates with her favourite musicians to create unique, spontaneous compositions. These free flowing and conversational improvisations make use of electronic effects, sound design, live looping and sampling in an exploration of contemporary jazz from a different angle.
Joining Yazz in the Electric Dreams Quartet specially convened for this performance are vocal sculptor Jason Singh, drummer Rod Youngs, and Swedish guitarist Samuel Hällkvist. This will be an exciting opportunity for the audience to witness an organic interactive process, and a celebration of musical freedom and collective creativity set in a 21st century soundscape. |
