The 71st British Academy Film Awards, more commonly known as the BAFTAs, will be held on 18 February 2018 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, to honour the best British and international contributions to film in 2017. Presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), accolades are handed out for the best work of any nationality screened at British cinemas in 2017.
The ceremony featured a special performance from Cirque du Soleil's show 'OVO'.
The red carpet was laid on the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Steps. The red carpet was broadcast from 17:00 on the official BAFTA Facebook and Twitter channels, EE Facebook page and highlights were included in the BBC One ceremony programme.
The event ceremony was broadcast on BBC One and BBC One HD from 21:00.
A post-ceremony programme with Edith Bowman backstage at the awards was broadcast from 23:00 on BAFTA's Twitter page.
The Duke of Cambridge, President, British Academy of Film and Television Arts, and The Duchess of Cambridge attended the event and were received by Sir Kenneth Olisa (Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London). The Royal party took part in the post ceremony meet and greet with the winners on stage.

The majority of female attendees at the event wore black and pin-badges in support of the Time's Up campaign against sexual harassment, assault, or abuse in the workplace. Some attendees invited female equality pioneers as their guests including the original Dagenham ladies Eileen Pullen and Gwen Davis.
A protest took place on the red carpet at 18:10-18:20 by 12 demonstrators from Sisters Uncut supporting the #TimesUp #MeToo moevement.
"The Baftas red carpet was invaded by demonstrators wearing 'Times Up Theresa' T-shirts as part of a campaign against domestic violence on Sunday evening. The gate-crashers, from a feminist group known as Sisters Uncut, made for a noisy diversion from the rather more sedate message delivered by film stars and celebrities wearing black dresses or Times Up pins. Instead they chanted: Sisters, united, will never be defeated. As part of their demand for the Prime Minister to do more to tackle domestic abuse, they linked arms and lay down on the red carpet, before security guards arrived to move them on. At the same time the organisations Twitter account posted a string of messages critical of the Domestic Violence and Abuse Bill promoted by the government."
