A protest took place on the red carpet at 18:10-18:20 by 12 demonstrators from Sisters Uncut supporting the #TimesUp #MeToo moevement.
"The Baftas red carpet was invaded by demonstrators wearing 'Times Up Theresa' T-shirts as part of a campaign against domestic violence on Sunday evening. The gate-crashers, from a feminist group known as Sisters Uncut, made for a noisy diversion from the rather more sedate message delivered by film stars and celebrities wearing black dresses or Times Up pins. Instead they chanted: Sisters, united, will never be defeated. As part of their demand for the Prime Minister to do more to tackle domestic abuse, they linked arms and lay down on the red carpet, before security guards arrived to move them on. At the same time the organisations Twitter account posted a string of messages critical of the Domestic Violence and Abuse Bill promoted by the government." (The Daily Telegraph, 19 February 2018)
After parties were held at Chiltern Firehouse and Annabel's. |
