Performance Notes | Classic FM presenters invite you to join them for a Best of British night, celebrating some of the finest music composed on these shores.
The outstanding cellist Leonard Elschenbroich is the soloist for the much-loved Elgar Cello Concerto, and Alan Titchmarsh will join the orchestra to introduce The Glorious Garden: a new work combining poetry and music, which sees Alan collaborating with Classic FMs Composer in Residence, Debbie Wiseman.
Classic FM Live will also include performances from exciting young talent, The Ayoub Sisters and the Welsh tenor Trystan Griffiths. Trystan will perform a selection of famous Welsh melodies, accompanied by our orchestra on the night: the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, conducted by Maxime Tortelier. Orchestral favourites on the bill include Vaughan Williams 5 Variants of Dives and Lazarus and Jupiter from The Planets by Holst, in what promises to be a great celebration of patriotic classics, culminating in a spectacular lights-and-fireworks finale.
Guests in the audience included Charlotte Hawkins (television presenter), Aled Jones (singer, presenter) and Robin Cousins (Olympian).
The event was recorded and broadcast on Classic FM at 20:00 on 4 April 2018. |
