| Performance Notes | As part of our Festival of Science: Space, Classic Album Sundays Colleen Murphy is joined by Alex Paterson and Youth from ambient house-pioneers The Orb in the Elgar Room for a listening session and discussion on the influence of the cosmos on the music world.
Classic Album Sundays is an immersive shared listening experience which allows fans to get as close as possible to the artists music with focus on their influential albums and songs through stories told by the artist and listening to music on a world-class audiophile hi-fi system.
Exploring how space has inspired music in a number of genres from classical, jazz and funk to psychedelic rock and kosmische musik (Krautrock), Alex Paterson and Youth will also discuss the influence of space on The Orbs first two albums: The Orbs Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld (1991) and U.F.Orb (1992).
Music from The Orb and other artists including Pink Floyd, Alice Coltrane, Tangerine Dream, Sun Ra will be played on an audiophile hi-fi sound system courtesy of Grahams Hi-Fi, Rega, Naim and Bowers & Wilkins.
