| Performance Notes | Join Rajan and Sajan Mishra in the Elgar Room for an evening of classical Indian music, in partnership with the Asian Music Circuit. Since ancient Vedic times people in India developed music as a powerful path to self-realisation. Personifying and deifying the glorious variety of their surroundings, music became one of the most important platforms to express longing for, and separation from, the divine and spiritual. Rajan and Sajan Misra, the legendary singers from the holy city of Varanasi have established themselves as the finest performers of the North Indian style of Khyal. Accompanied by Sanju Sahai on tabla, they will sing ragas associated with deities and also times of the day. |
