Performance Notes | Come and be awed by more than 1,000 singers taking centre stage to perform the Fauré Requiem a perennial favourite of the choral repertoire with gorgeous melodies including the beautiful Pie Jesu, known and loved throughout the world. Complementing the serenity of this wonderful work is Mendelssohns Hymn of Praise, a fine, exuberant example of the composers famous ability to conjure tunes which you will be humming as you leave the Royal Albert Hall.
Featured soloists are soprano Elizabeth Karani, tenor Nick Pritchard and baritone Julien Van Mellaerts (winner, 2017 Kathleen Ferrier Award). Marking 50 years since he sang Pie Jesu as a treble, Bob Chilcott referred to by The Observer as a contemporary hero of British choral music will direct The Really Big Chorus and the English Festival Orchestra. |
