Performance Notes | Joining us for this Late Night Jazz session are bassist Ilaria Capalbo and pianist Stefano Falcone, as part of our Unstoppable Voices season.
The collaboration between Ilaria and Stefano is an ever-evolving work in progress. The pair studied together in Sweden, absorbing the Scandinavian jazz accent to accompany their Italian folk roots. Together, they work on original compositions, blending co-writing and free improvisation to result in artistic material that sits at the intersection of jazz and chamber music.
Their debut album, Invisible Atlas, traces a geographical and emotional path, a thread woven between the northernmost and southernmost edges of Europe, between written and improvised music.
This performance in the Halls Elgar Room is one of a number of Unstoppable Voices shows compiled by composer and saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi, one of the seasons guest curators. |
