He said he was proud the show [Company] has included a "celebratory snapshot of gay love at a time where acknowledging the very existence of LGBT people in our schools is being questioned, we have been able to, as a company show a lovely and celebratory snapshot of gay love. LGBT people are not that different - we're just as anxious and just as flawed and just as desperate to fall in love as everyone else."

Kyle Soller in his acceptance speech paid tribute to those that were lost during the AIDS epidemic. He said, "To the people that died during the AIDS epidemic, to those that were lost, to those who continue the fight in a world where you can still be stoned to death for loving who you love - thank you."
