Performance Notes | Rufus Wainwright returned to the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his self-titled debut album. The Canadian-American singer songwriter performed songs from his 1998 debut including April Fools, Danny Boy and In My Arms as well as his 2001 sophomore album Poses in full, delighting his many fans with his unmistakable voice. Rufus further charmed the sold-out Auditorium with a cover of Joni Mitchells timeless ballad 'Both Sides, Now', and the Beatles 'Across The Universe' provided the perfect ending to this magical evening.
Check out the reactions of the crowd and our exclusive pictures by photographer Christie Goodwin:
Rufus Wainwright wore several costumes, including a giant cape especially desgined for him by fashion designers Vicktor and Rolf, who also designed one of the shirts that support artist Rahcel Eckroth also wore.
Guests in the audience included Derren Brown (mentalist / illusionist).
"Thank you @RoyalAlbertHall. There is nothing like playing that venue. I had the most wonderful time and the most wonderful audience." (Twitter, @rufuswainwright, 24 April 2019) |
