Performance NotesOur Late Night Jazz series presents sensational music in the intimacy of the Elgar Room.

Joining us for this special jazz session will be a talented jazz ensemble from the Royal College of Music Junior Department (RCMJD).

Led by English jazz saxophonist Mornington Lockett, the RCMDJ jazz ensemble will play a varied programme including hits by Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk and Tony Williams.

Since its inception the Royal College of Music Junior Department (RCMJD) has evolved to meet the musical needs of its students and adapted to the changing educational and musical landscape.

The RCMJD provides a programme of advanced training to young musicians aged 8-18, with individually-tailored programmes of one-to-one instrument/voice/composition lessons, supported by chamber music, orchestra, choir and musicianship classes.

Designed to prepare students for musical life in the 21st century, the RCMJD aims to produce happy, successful, healthy, entrepreneurial and flexible young musicians that can meet the ever changing demands of the profession.
