Performance NotesOn Friday 5 July, Peter Hook performed Joy Division classics with an orchestra for the first time ever.

The Manchester Camerata joined the legendary Joy Division and New Order bassist on stage at the Hall for this celebration of one of the most influential bands ever. Special guest vocalists were Natalie Findlay, Mica Millar and Bastien Marshall. The event aimed to pair the musical elements of post punk that characterised Joy Division’s ground-breaking sound to a full orchestra to pay homage to the band.

As Peter Hook and the orchestra received a standing ovation at the end of the emotional two-and-a-half hour show, which climaxed with Love Will Tear Us Apart, it’s clear to say that they reached their goal.

The event was filmed by the promoter and the Royal Albert Hall.
