| Performance Notes | Classic FM Live returns to the Royal Albert Hall for what promises to be a truly memorable night of the very best classical music.
The supremely talented young British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor will perform Gershwins Rhapsody in Blue, fusing jazz and classical music to conjure up images of 1920s Manhattan. Further special guests on the night will include the nations favourite choirmaster, Gareth Malone, directing the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, who will also perform a range of choral favourites including the Grand March from Verdis Aida.
Classic FM Live will also celebrate 90 years of the world-famous Decca Records, with a brilliant array of the labels artists taking to the stage. A spectacular musical lights and pyrotechnics display will bring the concert to a close in magnificent fashion, to the sound of Tchaikovskys 1812 Overture.
In the build up to this event, Classic FMs More Music Breakfast presenter, Tim Lihoreau completed a 'Piano Pull' in aid of Classic FM's charity, Make Some Noise. He pulled a piano through the streets of London from Classic FM to the Royal Albert Hall, and was joined by various other presenters along the way (including Moira Stuart, Charlotte Hawkins and Alan Titchmarsh). He stopped at sights such as the National Gallery, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, and the V&A Museum . He and various members of the public took to playing the piano in the streets.
