Performance NotesAward-winning disc-jockey and trailblazing broadcaster DJ Ritu is a key pioneer of British Asian music. She began
playing Bhangra in the 1980s at legendary venues across London, and kick-started her international career on the
decks in countries like Canada, Germany, and Sweden. She presented weekly shows across the BBC Radio network
for over two decades, co-founded cult Asian Underground label Outcaste Records, and toured in over 35 countries as
the band-leader of Sister India. Currently Ritu manages London’s original and leading Bollywood club event, Kuch
Kuch Nights, which celebrates its 20th birthday next year, and is the producer of the SOAS Concert Series at the
University of London.
