Performance NotesThe annual One Young World Summit convenes the brightest young talent from every country and sector, working to accelerate social impact. 2,000 delegates from 190+ countries are counselled by influential political, business and humanitarian leaders such as Justin Trudeau, Paul Polman and Meghan Markle, amongst many other global figures.

Delegates participate in four transformative days of speeches, panels, networking and workshops. All delegates have the opportunity to apply to give keynote speeches, sharing a platform with world leaders with the world’s media in attendance. As well as listening to keynote speakers, delegates have the opportunity to challenge world leaders, interact and be mentored by influencers. Delegates make lasting connections throughout the Summit, celebrating their participation at social events and the unforgettable Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

The One Young World Summit 2019 sees the global forum for young leaders return ‘home’ for the first time since the inaugural Summit in 2010. An after party was held at the Natural History Museum.

Sadiq Khan told the delegates:
"What a privilege this is, not just for our city to be hosting this summit but to have the opportunity to impress a group of young people who are so passionate about building a better future for us all. It is fitting that a global forum like One Young World is being held in a truly global city like London, the most diverse city in the world. Because London is, and always will be, outlooking, international and open. Open to trade, talent and partnerships; open to those of all faiths and open to people from around the world regardless of the colour of their skin, the colour of their passports or the colours of their national flag. As young leaders, but more importantly, as global citizens, you will always be welcome in London.”

The Opening Ceremony was directed by Adam Blackwood and conceived and produced by Private Drama Events. Sustainable fashion designer Patrick McDowell designed 200 100% sustainable costumes using only reclaimed fabrics and organic materials for the performers.

As part of the flag bearing ceremony a giant British Union Jack flag and then a giant One Young World flag were unfurled cross the entire arena floor above the heads of those seated.

Guests in the audience included The Baroness Lane Fox of Soho, Mark Tewksbury (Olympian), Ms. Jayathma Wickramanayake (UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth).

The event was live streamed.
