Performance Notes | For the seventh year in a row, the award-winning Scratch® Youth Messiah returns to the Royal Albert Hall just before Christmas, showcasing 1,500 young singers from youth choirs all over the country who come together to sing Handels Messiah with professional orchestra and soloists.
Voted Best Classical Music Education Initiative in the Music Teacher Awards for Excellence, this vibrant performance features children as young as six or seven making their contribution to the Hallelujah Chorus as they sit alongside more experienced young singers who perform the complete work.
Soloists are auditioned from among todays best young professional talent, and will be announced in the autumn. Ben Parry conducts, with accompaniment from the English Festival Orchestra.
This afternoon performance is ideal for families, being slightly shorter than the usual Messiah, yet still including all the best tunes. Generous discounts available!
The Scratch® Youth Messiah is organised in association with Sing for Water! and raises funds for the life-saving work of WaterAid through programme sales, advertising and choir fund-raising. |
