Performance NotesA Christmas tradition for over a hundred years

The celebrated Royal Choral Society has been performing at the Royal Albert Hall since our doors first opened in 1871, and the 150-strong choir has sung at the Hall every Christmas for over a hundred years.

This December, the choir returns to its spiritual home with a festive programme packed full of glorious carols old and new – including traditional singalong favourites for the audience to join in with.

The choir will be accompanied by the renowned Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Band of the Irish Guards and baritone Benjamin Bevan – all under the baton of Royal Choral Society Music Director Richard Cooke. Acclaimed actor of stage and screen, Juliet Stevenson, will provide readings of seasonal verse in between songs.

This unmissable gala concert includes seasonal standards Silent Night, The Twelve Days of Christmas and O Come all Ye Faithful, as well as modern classics O Holy Night (regularly voted the UK’s best-loved carol) and Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols. It’s the perfect way to get into the festive spirit!
