| Performance Notes | Hammer and Tongue National Slam Final 2021. Poetry slam winners from round the UK compete for the coveted title of National Poetry Slam Champion which sees the audience decide who takes the crown. The democratisation of the UKs most entertaining and inspirational poetic talent boils over in the drama of the competitive spoken word arena which sees diverse, uncensored, and uncompromising artists enthral the audience for points, knowing that the point is not the points - the point is the poetry".
Thanks to funding from The Space, the final competition was broadcast via Facebook Live, with viewers able to vote via the platform. The aggregated social votes were combined with more traditional slam poetry voting - where 5 members of the in-person audience are randomly selected as judges - to decide this years UK champion.
The event was socially-distanced in accordance with government Covid-19 regulations. |
