Performance NotesArmonico Consort’s choir and orchestra are joined by international soprano Lucy Crowe and baritone, and winner of the Kathleen Ferrier Award, Gareth Brynmor John, for this performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana.

Between its explosive opening and sublime melodies, Carmina Burana has cemented itself in musical history since its first performance in 1937. Based on 24 poems from the medieval collection of the same name, the work explores life’s delights, unpredictability, and excesses. Carl Orff’s unforgettable work will be performed alongside Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, itself a great masterpiece demonstrating the composer’s brilliance in writing, from dances to exquisite melodies.

World premiere of Toby Young's 'My Letter to the World'.

The event was originally scheduled for 7 July 2021 but was postponed until this date due to government ovid-19 regulations regarding full-capacity events.

This concert had a downloadable digital programme, which was available on the Armonico Consort website for £4.50.
