Performance Notes | 'The Albert Hall was on Wednesday night again the scene of one of those unmannerly disturbances which seem destined to recur with every miscellaneous concert given in the building. Mr Kuhe, the giver of the concert made an apology for Mme Patti, who was suffreing from a cold, and who accordingly substituted 'The Last Rose of Summer' for the first song set down for her, an excerpt from L'Etoile du Nord.' The uproarious applause which followed could only be quelled by Signor Foli's coming forward to sing his song, for the great singer had implied by her manner that it was not her intention to grant the desires of the tiny minority. |
