"THE MUSICAL WORLD
ROYAL ALBERT HALL.
Instead of being filled, as it ought to have been, with His Majesty's lieges, the Albert Hall was yesterday filled, as it ought not to have been, with fog. Surely those responsible for its keeping could have burnt out the fog fiend during the morning, at least to an extent that would have enable the audience to see, as well as hear, Mr Wood and the splendid band (200 strong) which Mr. Newman had provided. As it was, the fog kept many away, and made miserable those who came. They did not, as already said, fill the hall, but they made a brave show, nevertheless, and Mr. Newman's first Albert Hall concert may be spoken of, all things considered, as an entirely successful inauguration of the series he proposes to give in the Kensington Rotunda."
