Performance Notes"There was much distinction in the formal ending of Mr Arthur Chappell's managerial career, yesterday afternoon. It was no small thing in itself to give a fifteen hundred and thirty-third concert. Few, if any, directors have approched within measurable distances of such a feat, even if we incude all kinds of music and do not limit our view to that which is styled classical. Obviously Mr Chappell has a claim to remembrance on this account, and there was entire propriety in a huge assembly to share the good things of a last feast provided by the veteran and experience caterer. On this final occassion the late director of the "Pops" did not present a programme similar to those of the forty-two years' series. He appealed to a larger circle than is formed by amatuers of the string quartet, and, to find room for its members took the largest concert-hall in London."
