Performance Notes | "The attested married men's movement is growing steadily, and it was stated yesterday that it had nearly half a million enrolled members. On Friday a meeting will be held in the Albert Hall, at which delegates from all parts of the country will be present." (The Times, 28 March 1916)
Only married men with armlets or attestation cards were admitted into the meeting. The Married Men's Movement wanted to ensure that adequate compensation would be made to the families of its members before they enlisted in the war.
"MARRIED MEN'S AGITATION. LONDON DEMONSTRATION. Attested married men in London, who were joined by delegates from other parts of the country, assembled at the Albert Hall last night and gave vigorous expression to their views on what speakers described as the 'recruiting muddle.'"
