Performance Notes"Police officers of the Metropolitan Force and delegates of various forces met at the Albert Hall on Tuesday to discuss cuts in their wages. Although there was only reasonabic accommodation for 10,000, 2,000 more crowded in. There were then quite 2,000 who could not get in. The meeting was organized by the joint Consecutive Committee of the Metropolitan Police Branch Boards, and there were delegates present from many forces in England and Wales, but none from Scotland. The chair was taken by Sergeant Holmes, of the Durham Constabulary. Patriotic airs were played by the Metropolitan Police band, and speeches were made by Lord Remnant and the following:- Sir Stafford Cripps, Mr J D Cassels, Lieutenenat-Colonel Watts- Morgan, Mr V McEntree, Mr G Harvey, Mr Frank Braint, Mr W Lunn, and Mr J H Hayes. At the close the secretary said that no official statement will be made. He stated that a resolution of protest against pay cuts had been carried unanimously, and would be forwarded to the Home Secretary."

The meeting was originally planned for 13 October 1931 to consider proposed reductions in pay and conditions of service.
