('Spiritualism and British Society Between the Wars', J Hazelgrove, Manchester University Press, 2000)

"On one occasion the medium spoke of a 'dead' man, giving the name of Wilkinson, who wanted to speak to his son. Two people in the hall claimed the message. But the medium bu giving further evidence, soon unravelled the mystery... For the first time for many years, when Estelle announced that a 'dead' husband ished to speak to his wife, Mrs Terry, there was no response from the audience... 'It is your loss' said Estelle in the end, and went on to the next message.
...One 'high light' of the demonstration was a message to his wife from a man who passed on after falling over a bridge. The medium gave the spirit's name as Campbell and said he was looking for his wife. A woman at once claimed the message. ...'He says 'Darling, I am alive. It was all so quick. I didn't realise. Help me to understand. I realised the tragic conditions and I wanted to say 'Good-bye' but there was no time. I didn't understand. Please help me.' Do you understand that?' asked the medium. 'Yes, quite,' answered the wife... 'He hurt his head,' went on Estelle. 'Why does he show me water?' 'I do not know.' 'He tells me that just before he passed on, you and he were together and you went and stood and looked at some water.' 'That is quite right.' 'He is linking that up with his 'death,'' explained the medium. 'The was his last memory of life. Your husband tells me he didn't realise when he tripped what would happen. There is one thing he wants you to know, and that is he did not commit suicide.' ... 'He wants me to say this - 'Please give my darling all my love. Tell her to tell the boys it is true I have been back. And thank her for the kiss she gave my portrait.' He is crying with joy at having given you this. He is telling me a name - it is on the sound of E.' 'Yes, it is Edie.' 'He wants you to know he is happy,' went on the medium. 'He asks me to say he is still alive and you know that it was a natural death. Let that help you.' 'It helps me wonderfully' declared the woman. ...
... One man was given evidential particulars about his spirit helpers, who included one named the Rev Father Baker. There was one very touching reunion. Estelle, after calling out a surname, turned round to a man seated behind her, who acknowledged that the description and the messages she gave were from his wife. He was obviously relieved to find out that her long suffering, the result of mental trouble, come to an end with 'death.' 'She is perfectly sane now,' said Estelle 'The mental conditions were left behind with the body. I want you to take hope and comfort from that and to know that she is happy...'"
