Performance Notes | The event was held to launch Amnesty International's 'Protect the Human' week and was inspired by the success of Eddie Izzard's 'son of the Secret Policeman's Ball gig in 2001 at Wembley Arena. Re-invented and re-booted for the 21st century, the Secret Policeman's Ball featured a star line-up of comedy and musical talent. As well as stand-up and sketch comedy, new ingredients were animations featuring Patrick Stewart, Jo Brand and Brian Cox; 'dead funny' podcasts; viral films with cameos from John Hurt and chef Gordon Ramsey; simultaneous live and uncensored screenings of the show at 19 Picturehouse cinemas across the UK and a TV broadcast programme by Channel 4.
The event included 67 performers and over 3.5 million people in the UK watched the show on Channel 4, with over 4 million online views of the show, virals, podcasts, vodcasts and behind the scenes footage.
A event was recorded and released as a DVD by Warner Brothers. |
