Performance Notes | The Really Big Chorus (TRBC) is Britain's largest choral society, made up of singers from hundreds of different choirs, as well as individuals who have taken part in other events organised by Concerts from Scratch. There are 8,500 people on the mailing list, representing an estimated 35,000 singing members, including individuals and groups from all parts of Britain, as well as from Europe and the USA. All proceeds from programmes, sponsorship and collections at the Royal Albert Hall events are given to charity, and over the last thirty years many thousands of pounds have been raised for The British Heart Foundation and Leukaemia Research. The Alzheimer's Society was a new charity partner in 2007.
Each year The Really Big Chorus promotes three major concerts in the Royal Albert Hall, accompanied by The English Festival Orchestra. At the start of each season auditions are held for prize-winning young soloists, many of whom go on to become international stars. |
