Performance Notes | After a sell-out Beautiful Nights show at Brixton Academy, The Levellers play a one-off acoustic show at the Royal Albert Hall. 2008 sees the band celebrating their 20th anniversary together - having started their career in 1988 they have gained a reputation as one of Britains best live acts by their un-relenting commitment to touring and performing at festivals.
The original line-up still play with a passion and pride that, having seen off many of their early contemporaries, is setting a standard that many young pretenders find hard to match. The band recently released A Life Less Ordinary and The Cholera Well as free downloads from their forthcoming new studio album Letters from the Underground. The tracks are a true return to form for the band, comprising the best elements of the Levellers - rousing folk melodies, passionate lyrics and a classic punk rock sound.
After 2 decades, it is time for the UK to be truly proud of one of its most enduring musical talents as they celebrate twenty years of passion, folk, dancing, drinking, singing, politics, punk, rabble-rousing and free spirit. |
