Performance Notes | The Really Big Chorus returns to the Hall teaming up with the English Festival Orchestra, conducted by Brian Kay. The Really Big Chorus is Britain's largest choral society, made up of singers from hundreds of different choirs, as well as individuals who have taken part in other events organised by Concerts from Scratch.
An opera in all but name, Verdi's setting of the Requiem is one of the most thrilling in the repertoire with graphic descriptions of the day of judgement, the hosts of heaven and hell, and prayers for eternal peace. Brian Kay conducts, with an hour's topping and tailing to make sure of the bits we all think we knew but might well have forgotten. |
