Performance NotesMikhail Gorbachev is one of the few people who can justify the label 'The man who changed the world'. In March 2011, he turned 80. Outstanding representatives of the world of culture, science, sport, entertainment and politics from around the globe joined together at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate the life of the Nobel Peace Prize winner and transformational 20th Century figure.

This fantastic gala evening brought together the greatest artists from East and West, who performed unique duets on the Royal Albert Hall stage to honour Gorbachev's achievements. Together, they celebrated the seven stages of Mr Gorbachev's life including his childhood, rise to high office, the reforms of Perestroika, his international peace efforts and the charitable work of the Gorbachev Foundation.

Other guests at the event included Ksenia Gorbacheva and Anastasia Virganskaya (granddaughters), Avram Grant (football manager), Irina Virganskaya (Mikhail Gorbachev's daughter), Andrey Trukhachev, Shoo Iwasaki (founder of Green Cross Japan), Ted Turner (CNN Founder), Ksenia Gorbacheva (actress), Perry Oosting (Vertu CEO), Holly Valance (actress), Goldie Hawn (actress), John Major (former UK Prime Minister), Earl Spencer, Boris Johnson (Mayor of London), Tim Berners-Lee, Fabio Capello, and former Polish President Lech Walesa.

The event was filmed for TV broadcast by Russian Channel 1.

VIP pre-show gallery reception.
