Performance Notes | Atongo Zimba was born in the savannahs of northern Ghana. His grandfather taught him how to play the molo, a two stringed calabash lute, at a very young age. Whilst minding the family's herd Atongo composed his own songs accompanied by his instrument.
Following the nomination of the his third European release, Barefoot in the Sand, as best African album of the year by Mokum TV in Holland, Atongo Zimba and his band have performed at major festivals all over the world. Atongo is now touring to promote his new album, Sankuune, which marks a return to his acoustic roots.
