| Performance Notes | Tumbao Tivoli is a London based Cuban quartet with the authentic sound from Santiago de Cuba, a city know as the cradle of "son". They play a mix of dynamic Cuban beats and Cuban classics.The strong percussive sound led to the name "Tumbao Tivoli", "Tumbao" meaning beat and "Tivoli" their Santiago neighbourhood that gave them their groove.
Their set consists mostly of modern punchy compositions drawn on son, son montuno, changui, guaracha, afrocuban and Modern Cuban styles, all played on Cuban traditional instruments. The line up is: tres, baby bass, percussion and violin.
The band has performed at many venues that include The Cuba50 festival at the Barbican, the South Bank outdoor series, the Vortex Jazz Club, The RichMix & Ronnie Scotts. Tumbao Tivoli are guaranteed to fire up the hearts and feet with their compulsive beats and Latin steps. |
