| Performance Notes | Darius Brubeck was, until 2006, the internationally known Director of the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music (Durban, South Africa). He now travels between Europe and the USA and his performance repertoire includes original compositions, standard jazz and South African music. He is the son of Dave Brubeck, the legendary American jazz pianist.
Darius is joined by Dave O'Higgins on saxophone, award-winning bassist Matt Ridley and South African drummer and Wesley Gibbens, who plays with a number of mainstream jazz and African music groups.
In 2010, the band toured in Romania and this year in Saudi Arabia. The programme in this ignite brunch performance reflects musical influences from these areas and also includes Dave Brubeck compositions. |
