Performance Notes | Named by the Evening Standard as "One of London's great singers and songwriters", Joe made a huge impact on national radio last year with his super catchy plea to "Make Love" which Radio 2 took to its heart.
After being playlisted for five weeks, Chris Evans drew comparisons with the likes of Paulo Nutini and Amy Winehouse, with Joe's life-affirming brand of "new music that sounds like old music" winning him fans all over the UK.
Joe's distinctive rich vocals over his unique blend of new classic jazz-flavoured blues & soul have earnt him a reputation for being a fabulous live performer. He was bass player with Scritti Politti, Ian Dury, Desmond Dekker and Kintone before becoming a solo artist. He wrote 4 tracks on Aswad's platinum album "Rise & Shine", including the multi million seller "Shine" which he has released to much acclaim this year.
Joe has since recorded and written for K.T Tunstall, Hall & Oates, Hugh Masakela, Bheki Musaleku, Marianne Faithfull (with whom Joe toured with throughout 2009) and Leona Lewis. |
