Performance NotesAs the culmination of a major youth singing programme, one of England’s great choral institutions is joined by the BBC Singers, the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and children from London schools, to perform a specially commissioned work.

The Angry Planet is the latest collaboration between prize-winning poet Charles Bennett and composer-conductor Bob Chilcott and expresses, the composer says, ‘a deep love for an environment both celebrated and mourned’.

There was no interval.
Broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
Performance signed from the stage by Paul Whittaker.

Ruby Hughes, the advertised soprano, was unable to attend and was replaced by Laurie Ashworth.

The Earl of Wessex attended as Patron of National Youth Orchestras of Scotland.
