Performance NotesWith youth featuring as a major strand at the Proms this summer, two ensembles share the bill, each one introducing a brand-new work. A suitably patriotic edge is provided by Walton’s Crown Imperial and Derek Bourgeois’s virtuosic Blitz.

The appearance of the National Youth Wind Orchestra was supported by Besson. First performance at the Proms of all works except for Walton's 'Crown Imperial' and Bourgeois' 'Blitz'. BBC commission and world premiere of Higgins' 'Der Aufstand' and Bryars' 'After the Underworlds'.
