| Performance Notes | Renowned for choral music that is winning ever wider audiences, Eric Whitacre makes his Proms debut in a late-night showcase in which the BBC Singers join forces with his own vocal ensemble. His new work is inspired by the Olympic motto Citius, Altius, Fortius (Faster, Higher, Stronger).
There will be no interval.
BBC comission and world premiere of 'Higher, Faster, Stronger' by Eric Whitacre, and world premiere of Imogen Heap's 'The Listening Chair'. Imogen Heap set up her physical 'Listening Chair' in Porch 9 on 21 July for customers to sit in and record a message with which she used to write the piece.
Proms premiere of 'Warm-Up' by Bernstein, 'Bach Again', J S Bach, arr. E London; and Whitacre's 'Alleluia', 'Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine', 'Cloudburst', and 'Sleep'.
