Performance Notes | The Savoy Super Five is a reduced version of the Savoy Super Six which, in turn, is a smaller version of the Ex Factor. The latter is a semi-pro Traditional/Dixieland Jazz Band and gets it title from the fact that the personnel are ex professionals from the "Trad Boom" of the 50s and 60s and played with the likes of Chris Barber, Kenny Ball and Acker Bilk. Barry Palser gets these guys together and as a group they play happy, foot-tapping, joyful music in the "Trad Jazz" idiom. Communicating with their audience is paramount and, within reason, the band is prepared to accept requests (they might even play them). If you like your jazz on the traditional side you'll love 'em! |
