Performance Notes | Pocket Caravan cross continents with ease, merging soaring Baltic melodies with driving Latin rhythms and virtuosic improvisations.
The ensemble began with British guitarist Peter Michaels' search for a sound echoing the historic route of the gypsies across the continents. Together with Brazilian violinist Felipe Karam, they developed a diverse repertoire reflecting their shared influences. After performing as a duo for several years, they expanded the ensemble to include other musicians from Brazil and other corners of the globe.
Pocket Caravan have held a residency at Camden's Green Note Café, as well as performing at the National Theatre Foyer and venues across the UK. In 2008 they launched their debut album, Landscapes, at the Shunt Vaults.
They have a dynamic and original sound which mirrors the cultural melting pot of London. |
