Arie Dakesian is in his final year of undergraduate studies at the Royal College of Music, where he studies with professors Gary Ryan and Christopher Stell. He is a Houston Family Award Holder at the RCM, and a recipient of several Armenian scholarship funds, including the Ouzounian Trust and AGBU Scholarships. Arie is also a grant and bursary holder of the International Guitar Foundation and the Royal Philharmonic Society.
Born in Beirut, Lebanon, to an Armenian family, Arie picked up his first guitar at the age of six. He has since been exposed to a wide variety of music from a very young age, which is woven into the very fabric of his music-making. He is strongly influenced by Armenian and Middle-Eastern folklore, and is also a great admirer of Spanish and Latin-American music. Arie has had the pleasure of working with several stars of the guitar world; among them are Sergio Assad, Antigoni Goni, Sean Shibe, Duan Bogdanovic, Laura Snowden, Steve Goss, and Xuefei Yang. |
