Sarah Vaughan, born 100 years ago, spanned a range of genres, working with great musicians from Dizzy Gillespie to Michael Tilson Thomas. Her unparalleled vocal technique, which married operatic grandeur with the coolness of jazz, left audiences spellbound. The Proms presents an evening of songs made famous by Vaughan, including ‘Mean to Me’, ‘If You Could See Me Now’ and ‘Broken-Hearted Melody’.
